Under the Financial Overview, the entrepreneurial client has the option to add in their gross, operating, and net profit from the last 5 quarters and last 3 years. Sometimes people would like more information about the difference between gross, operating and net profit.
Gross profit is the earnings of the business after deducting the direct expenses like raw materials, labor cost, etc., usually called cost of goods sold.
Operating profit is gross profit minus operating or fixed expenses such as rent, maintenance, utilities, personnel, etc.
Net profit is operating profit minus any interest or taxes. It is generally considered the bottom line after accounting for all cash flows (both positive and negative).
A key point of distinction is that operating profit is the remaining income after the company has paid off all operating expenses. In contrast, net profit is the remaining income of the company after paying all costs incurred by the company.
